Which Service do I need?
I always ask if we will be starting with an existing résumé or starting from scratch, and after reviewing a résumé or any notes I can recommend service options. If your résumé is quite strong, a review service might be all that is needed. If the résumé only needs some relatively minor edits and maybe a little bit of new content, and it is not a long document, the revision service is likely. If you don’t have a résumé, or if your résumé is long and needs lots of work, the rewrite is probably appropriate.
What is your process?
I use a collaborative process that provides my clients the opportunity to see the résumé being built from start to finish. If you have a résumé to use as a starting point, I take that résumé and import it to my format in Google Docs, and you are invited to the document right away.
I ask questions in the Google Docs comments, and I then write new content, make edits, or ask follow-up questions based on your answers. We go back and forth until we are both happy with the resume content.
what are the advantages of your process?
Most résumé writers will build the resume without providing their clients with access to any content until the final product is delivered, and then the writer may offer a couple rounds of revisions. If you work with me, you will have access to the content as it is being written, which allows you to suggest changes, find errors, and provide feedback as we go. This ensures that your résumé is accurate and meets your expectations before the final delivery.
As an added bonus, as you watch the résumé develop you will learn quite a bit about how résumés are written, which is a useful skill to have.
How LONG WILL MY PROJECT TAKE?
The length of any project is based on a few factors, and it’s difficult to give an estimate until I gather a bit of information. My business can be a bit like an auto repair shop. Just as an auto mechanic needs to see the condition of your car before giving an estimate, I need to see any existing résumé content (if you have one) to understand your needs. The biggest factors are:
1. Amount of content - If your current résumé is long, that generally takes more time to edit and rewrite.
2. Quality of content - Sometimes projects start with résumés that are in fairly good shape, so delivery tends to be faster. If the résumé content is generally weak or has errors and omissions, that will take longer.
3. Your responsiveness - My collaborative process requires you to answer my questions. If you provide answers quickly, that will help the project move along. If you are busy and not able to answer questions in a timely manner, the project will take longer.
Do You USe AI for writing?
No, I am not currently (2026) using any AI tools for résumé writing. All résumés are written by me (Dave Fecak) without the aid of AI tools. I have found that AI tends to produce content that is not up to my standards, and usually lacks the narrative and storytelling that are essential to a strong résumé.
